Online News Editor–Washington, D.C.

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Deputy Assistant Managing Editor to join its team. The editor's primary focus is to oversee the daily flow of content and actively manage programming for usnews.com's home page. The editor will work with other U.S. News editors and Web producers to develop, plan, and coordinate news and features on the site that highlight the depth and breadth of U.S. News's editorial content, from its coverage of national and world news to its hallmark service journalism. The editor will also collaborate with U.S. News editors and reporters to quickly mobilize coverage of breaking news.

 

The ideal candidate must have sound editorial judgment, three to five years of editing experience for a national print or online publication, major newspaper, or wire service, and the ability to juggle multiple projects with both short- and long-term deadlines. Familiarity with online analytics, social media and blogging trends, and Web development technologies is a plus.

Web Interns–Washington, D.C.

U.S. News & World Report seeks HTML-savvy college students to join our online team. You will work closely with the producers of usnews.com to develop and improve editorial and data-driven projects. You should have strong attention to detail, an interest in new technology, and willingness to contribute to a close-knit team. Experience in blogging, personal tech, or personal finance a plus. Please note that this is not a writing or reporting position.

 

Internship requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of HTML and familiarity with HTML editors
• Attention to detail
• Comfort with writing blurbs and packaging content for an online audience
• Additional knowledge of CSS, XML, or JavaScript a plus
• Editorial background useful

 

Interns will work at U.S.News headquarters in Washington, D.C., in exchange for college credit.
