Thought-controlled computers
In a Washington University in St. Louis experiment designed to demonstrate how the disabled might be able to move artificial limbs via though-controlled computer interfaces, four adults with electrodes on the surface of their brains were able direct a moving cursor onto a particular spot on the computer screen by thinking about it. In a press release, one researcher said, "There will have to be a rigorous study on monkeys for an indeterminate number of years, but we're really excited about this advance. Brain-computer interface research is one of the hottest things going in biomedical engineering today."
