Background: Mortimer B. Zuckerman is the chairman and editor-in-chief of U.S.News & World Report and a regular columnist for the magazine. He is also the publisher of the New York Daily News as well as the founder and chairman of Boston Properties Inc., one of the nation’s largest real estate companies.

 

He is a trustee of Memorial Sloan-Kettering, the Hole in the Wall Gang Fund Inc., and the Center for Communications. He is also a member of the J.P. Morgan National Advisory Board, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Washington Institute for Near East Studies, and the International Institute of Strategic Studies. A strong advocate for the state of Israel, Zuckerman served as chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations from 2001 to 2003.  He is a former associate professor of city and regional planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a former lecturer of city and regional planning at Yale, and a past president of the board of trustees of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

 

Before founding Boston Properties in 1970, Zuckerman was the chief financial officer and senior vice president of Cabot, Cabot and Forbes. In 1980 he acquired Atlantic Monthly magazine and served as the chairman for 19 years. In 1984, he purchased and became editor-in-chief of U.S.News & World Report.

 

Zuckerman is a graduate of McGill University, McGill Law School, the Wharton Graduate School of Business, and the Harvard Law School.
