The results are in, but the race isn't over. Congressional candidates submitted their ledgers for the quarter ending June 30, with results showing that Democrat Charlie Wilson has been more successful at raising money.
With neither candidate running as an incumbent able to capitalize on name recognition, the election will likely hinge on costly campaigning.
Republican Chuck Blasdel lagged behind in drumming up cash in the last quarter. He pulled in $183,000 for the period, less than a third of what Wilson raised, $692,000. Blasdel now has a war chest of $780,000 with $277,200 cash on hand. Most of his money has come through political action committees ($437,000).
Wilson, meanwhile, has raised some $1,308,000 in total. He has $290,000 cash on hand. Wilson has received half his contributions from individuals and half from PACs.Alex Kingsbury
