Potential GOP 2008 Presidential Candidates Profiled

Time reports potential GOP 2008 contenders include Sen. John McCain, former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani, Gov. George Pataki and Senate Republican leader Bill Frist, Senator George Allen. Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas "would be a favorite of religious conservatives," while Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney "proved he can reach beyond the party base." Colorado Governor Bill Owens is "known as an aggressive tax cutter." Attorney General John Ashcroft or Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge "too could catch the presidential bug. There's always the chance that a Draft Arnold movement could emerge, leading to the speedy passage of a constitutional amendment that would allow the Austrian-born Schwarzenegger, Governor of California, to make a run."
