Kerry Campaign Responds Quickly To Bush Criticism On "Global Test"
Eager to avoid a repeat of the impact of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads, the Kerry campaign and Democratic surrogates quickly rebutted the latest Bush campaign ad. Referring to Senator Kerry's statement that foreign intervention needed to meet the "global test," President Bush said, "So we must seek permission from foreign governments before protecting America?" The ABC Evening News reports the Kerry campaign "quickly crafted" a response ad, in which the narrator says, "George Bush lost the debate. Now he's lying about it." ABC notes, "Privately Kerry's advisers admit they are applying here the lessons of the Swift Boat controversy. Don't let any charge go unanswered."
