Bush Spends Second Day In Florida As "Comforter-In-Chief"
Before the debate, President Bush for a second day visited hurricane-stricken areas of Florida yesterday. The New York Times reports Bush "delivered hugs, back-pats and pecks on the forehead to several hurricane victims, according to a pool report." It was the "second day in a row and the sixth time since the first of four hurricanes slammed Florida this season that Mr. Bush made hurricane-related stops in this politically vital state, trumpeting his requests to Congress for $12.2 billion in federal disaster aid." ABC World News Tonight reports the President, "in the role of comforter-in-chief, has visited frequently, as well he should, since most of the damage has been to heavily Republican areas."
