Kerry Helped Script Clinton's Speech
When Bill Clinton gave his speech to the Democratic National Convention Monday night, he was following the advice of John Kerry, with whom the former president conferred on the theme that would be most appropriate. Clinton went over a variety of possibilities but Kerry had a clear idea in mind. "I want the unity speech," the Massachusetts senator told Clinton and that's just what Clinton delivered. The former president's advisers tell the US News Bulletin that the incident shows that Clinton has confidence in Kerry's judgment and is willing to do all he can to help defeat George W. Bush this fall.
