Ron Reagan Urges Stem Cell Research

The AP reports, "Delivering a slap to his late father's political party, Ron Reagan told Democratic delegates Tuesday that voters in November face a choice between 'the future and the past, between reason and ignorance, between true compassion and mere ideology,' on the matter of embryonic stem cell research." Reuters adds that Reagan's speech "made no overt partisan pitch on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry." Reagan said, "Let me assure you, I am not here to make a political speech, and the topic at hand should not – must not – have anything to do with partisanship." USA Today reports that the Kerry campaign "said its polling over the last three nights found that 69% of voters supported stem-cell research, including 60% of Republicans."
