The Latest From Late Night Comedians
On CBS, David Letterman joked last night, "Here was the line-up of speakers earlier tonight at the Democratic National Convention. You had Ted Kennedy kicking things off. Then you had Howard Dean. Then you had Teresa Heinz Kerry. Yes, sir, it was 'Loose Canon Tuesday.'" Added Letterman, "Michael Moore, controversial documentary filmmaker, was in attendance at the convention earlier tonight, which explains the extraordinarily tight security around the buffet." On NBC, Jay Leno's standup routine included, "I'm sure you know former President Clinton did not give the keynote address. However, I understand he did give a key, a note, and his address to a waitress who was working the concession stand." Added Leno, "Teresa Heinz has been taking a lot of criticism for telling a reporter 'shove it' the other day. You saw this on the news. Telling a guy to shove it. Can you blame her? What's the point of having a billion dollars if you can't tell people to shove it?" Craig Kilborn joked last night, "Some good news coming out of this 'shove it' controversy, Teresa Heinz Kerry and Dick Cheney just formed a rap group."
