Tonight's Daschle Speech Ties Hopes For Senate Majority To Kerry

The Hill reports that when Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle "takes the podium to deliver his prime-time speech tonight, his goal is not just to help Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) win the White House, but also to give his own reelection campaign a boost and to bolster his chance to become majority leader again next year." Draft excerpts of the speech show Daschle "will take on all three challenges tonight."Roll Call adds that Daschle "will accuse the Bush administration tonight of being controlled by big business and call on the nation to send Sen. John Kerry to the White House in a prime-time address sprinkled with indirect references to his own re-election battle back home."
