Kerry Makes Surprise Appearance At Fenway

USA Today reports this morning that "in a move planned secretly a week ago, John Kerry arrived in Boston on Sunday night to throw out the first pitch at a Red Sox-Yankees game as Democrats prepared to open the convention that will nominate him for president. Greeted by a mixture of boos and cheers, Kerry ceremonially threw the first pitch of the game to Will Pumyea, 23, of Woburn, Mass., a military police officer with the Massachusetts National Guard who returned recently from Iraq." USA Today adds, "His throw was low and short. The ball got by Pumyea, who was wearing military fatigues." The New York Times called the move "a grand political surprise."
