November 1959: Pepper Martin photographed an Afghan man using his donkeys to transport goods. Martin wrote, "At first glance Afghanistan doesn't seem like a very big prize package, even for the Russians. It is small, roughly the size of Texas, underdeveloped, and has no known riches."
