Anticross crusade at a crossroads?

These are tumultuous times. We have war in Iraq, global warming, terrorism, the apparent breakdown of both political parties, and those tiny crosses in the corner of some town and town emblems that cause so much distress to the ACLU and its allies. "Clayton Cramer's Blog" notes the latest crusade. Oops, let's not offend by saying "crusade"–it has "cross" in it.

This time the ever sensitive ACLU is actually not part of the planned crossectomy, on the grounds that the city in New Mexico under attack for its emblem is Las Cruces, which means the "the crosses" in Spanish.

For earlier adventures of the tiny-cross people, see my column here.
