| HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE PENTAGON 2. At about 9:40 a.m., the Boeing 757, carrying 64 people and some 10,000 gallons of fuel, crashes into the Pentagon's lower floors near a helicopter landing pad. The fireball and debris punch through a recently renovated and reinforced segment where more than 800 people work.
