IRAQ ON THE BRINK OF WAR
Members of the Iraq Saddam Fedayin, a paramilitary unit formed by Saddam Hussein's elder son Uday, marching in downtown Baghdad in the days before the war. Although the name Fedayin suggests martyrdom, they are not suicide squads but loyal fighters volunteering for missions that face high risk of death. Some of these forces are believed to have conducted the sporadic attacks against advancing U.S. forces.
