Direct Qualified
The entire U.S.News & World Report subscriber file was matched to independent outside database
on a name-by-name and household basis for job title and business ownership. Subscribers in management positions (MRI job titles 1-9), professionals and businesses were identified as “executive.” 52% of all subscribers who receive U.S. News Executive are direct qualified.
Household Qualified
The subscriber file was also matched to Claritas P$YCLE, a national database that groups households on the basis of financial behavior. Job title and household income breaks are available for each cluster. Corporate executives, professionals and managers are considered executives. All other job titles are non-executive. New subscribers will be matched on a monthly basis.
Circulation
All subscribers in the eight P$YCLE clusters with the highest concentration of executives receive U.S. News Executive. In addition, direct-qualified subscribers who live in 23 other clusters and direct-qualified subscribers whose clusters are not identified also receive U.S. News Executive.
Prototype
Subscribers in the top eight clusters are pro-rated into executives and non-executives using Claritas-
provided percentages. Both groups are further segmented by the household incomes of the cluster.
Subscribers in the remaining clusters are 100% direct qualified. They are therefore segmented by household income only.
The remainder of the audience in each cluster is segmented by occupation and income rates for
that cluster.
The net audience for executives and non-executives in each of five household income
breaks is calculated.
