On to the polls

Unfortunately, the question of whether we should've gone into Iraq is now obsolete. Bad intelligence aside, it's already done. The pressing issue now is how we leave the country. Will we let terrorists force an early withdrawal? Kerry said he will make it a goal to exit Iraq before his first term expires. We all want the troops to come home, but guaranteeing retreat in the face of terror could backfire for generations to come. Kerry's strongest foreign-policy argument is that he will win over the nations who resent the way Bush is fighting the war on terror. And we must look beyond the bombs in fighting it. We must stop the civilian casualties; nothing helps terrorists recruit more people than that. We must employ human intelligence, and use more mass media, such as music and cinema, to spread the word that America's goal is peace and freedom, not world domination as the terrorists preach. But in the present, we must make it clear that terrorist acts will not lead to political change.
