| School mission | Queens University of Charlotte is a comprehensive, private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and located in the historic Myers Park neighborhood in the heart of Charlotte, N.C. Founded in 1857 with a strong foundation in the liberal arts and commitment to excellence, the University serves the needs of its diverse coeducational student body with a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs and learning experiences through the College of Arts & Sciences, the Hayworth College for Adult and Evening Programs, the McColl School of Business and the Presbyterian School of Nursing. In all of its programs, Queens emphasizes active and collaborative learning, meaningful student-teacher relationships, a creative synthesis of the liberal arts with the world of work, and the value, indeed the necessity, of lifelong learning. The creative synthesis is facilitated by an intimate learning environment, extraordinary faculty and innovative curriculum which includes: an international program that involves close to 90 percent of full-time undergraduates traveling abroad; a nationally recognized internship program which garners 100 percent participation from the student body and is fully integrated into the curriculum; five N.C. Professors of the Year, making Queens the only higher education institution in the state of North Carolina to boast five different award winners; and lastly the Core program in the Liberal Arts, designed to challenge students to develop analytical and critical thinking skills. This program has received accolades from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Throughout its 150-year history, Queens has remained committed to staying true to its fundamental mission - providing extraordinary educational experiences that transform the lives of its students, while fostering their personal and professional success for years to come.
