| School mission | Founded in 1856, Lake Erie College has always stood out for its visionary style. Lake Erie continues to follow a tradition of excellence, evolving to meet the needs of the future. Whether you have a clear picture of what you want to do after graduation or are still deciding, a liberal arts education prepares you for that journey. Overview: Lake Erie College is an independent, liberal arts College that challenges students to become connected both in and out of the classroom. The College is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Student Body: With just over 1,200 students enrolled, our investment in each student's success is significant. The majority of students live in one of four on-campus residence halls or two College-run apartment complexes and eat in the campus dining hall. Academics: On a small, intimate campus- it's easy to stand out. Expect to participate in class. Expect to be heard. Expect to love going to class. There are 27 undergraduate majors offered and the option to design an individualized major to fit career and academic goals. Popular majors include sports management, education, equine studies, arts management, communications, business administration, forensic psychology and pre-health professions (medial, dental, pharmacy and veterinary). The average class size at Lake Erie College is 15 and the average student-faculty ratio is 13:1. Master's level programs in business administration and education are also available. Lake Erie College students who are interested in owning a business can also get involved with the Center for Entrepreneurship. A new major in equine entrepreneurship and a general minor in entrepreneurship is also an option. Study Abroad: We encourage all students to broaden their horizons and experience the world by taking advantage of our international study program. Students may choose to spend an entire semester abroad or take part in our 10-14 day study tours. Prior to departing, our students are prepared via a course in international studies. Lake Erie College students recently explored exciting study tour destinations such as China, Galapagos Islands, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
