Duke takes strategic planning seriously and will submitted a new five-year university plan "Making a Difference" in Fall 2006. Duke? ? ? s core values include interdisciplinarity, knowledge in the service of society, internationalization, diversity, and affordability and access. Goals within the new plan include: to increase the capacity of faculty to develop and communicate disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge; to strengthen the engagement of the University in real world issues; to attract the best graduate students and make them full partners in the creation and transmission of knowledge; to foster in undergraduate students a passion for learning and a commitment to make a real difference in the world; to strengthen the arts; and to lead and innovate in the creation, management, and delivery of scholarly resources in support of teaching and research.
