| School mission | Carthage is a college of the liberal arts and sciences affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Carthage campus is situated within a 95-acre arboretum on the shore of Lake Michigan, midway between Chicago and Milwaukee. With an average class size of 17 students, and a student-faculty ratio of 14:1, Carthage attracts 2,250 undergraduate students from all parts of the world.
