| School mission | Founded in 1847, The City College of New York (CCNY) is the oldest of the City University's twenty institutions of higher learning, enrolling over 14,500 students in graduate and undergraduate programs in Liberal Arts and Science, Architecture, Engineering, Education and Biomedical Education. CCNY has one of the most diverse student bodies in America, representing some 157 countries. In Fall 2007, 90 languages other than English were spoken at CCNY. The College is ranked among the top 12 nationally in graduates who have gone on to earn doctorates and is internationally known for the research activities of its faculty, which received grant support totaling over $42 million dollars in 2006/2007. |
