This should be a quiet Thanksgiving week on Wall Street, given that many traders will be out of the office on Thursday and Friday. However, this should simply be the quiet before the storm, since a slew of new data on the troubled housing sector is expected to hit Wall Street next week.

Monday, November 20:

LEADING INDICATORS: The Conference Board will release the latest results of its closely followed index of leading economic indicators, which attempts to gauge the prospects for future economic activity.

TREASURY SPEECH: New Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is scheduled to deliver a speech before the Economic Club of New York.

EARNINGS TO WATCH: Campbell Soup, Lowe's Companies, and Nordstrom

Tuesday, November 21:

INVESTOR CONFIDENCE: State Street will release the latest results of its investor confidence index, which attempts to measure investor sentiment based on the types of securities currently being held in portfolios.

EARNINGS TO WATCH: Borders Group, Dollar Tree Stores, and J. Crew Group

Wednesday, November 22:

CONSUMER SENTIMENT: The University of Michigan will release its preliminary assessment of household confidence in November.

EARLY CLOSE: While the stock market will operate on normal schedule, the fixed-income markets are expected to close early at 2 p.m. for Thanksgiving.

Thursday, November 23:

THANKSGIVING: The stock and bond markets will be closed today in honor of Thanksgiving.

Friday, November 24:

MARKETS: They will be open, but trading should be light.
