U.S. News asked seven top photographers to choose the compact digital camera they like best.

Agency: Magnum Photos
Notable award: Robert Capa Gold Medal
Favorite compact camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10

"My pick is Sony's T9, which is now the T10. I bought the T9 for my wife, but I keep stealing it. It's as small as a cellphone, and the color is rich and fun. I think the picture quality is better than others I've tried. Buy the extra battery, because you'll need it. The G7 would be ideal, but I want a camera that big to shoot RAW. Otherwise, I want the camera to be really small."

Price check: B&H, $239.95; Amazon, $476.65
