The Five Biggest Vista Hassles
1. Runs s-l-o-w on a new PC.
Fix: Don't even think of running Vista on a PC with less than 1 gigabyte of memory, preferably 2GB.
2. Can't get it working on an old PC.
Fix: Don't bother. It's not worth the upgrade hassles; if you want Vista, buy a new PC.
3. Vista is constantly popping up security warnings.
Fix: You can turn off the source, called "user access control." But that defeats the purpose of many of Vista's new security features.
4. Old software won't run correctly on Vista.
Fix: Try Vista's compatibility mode, which might fool the program into thinking that it is an earlier Windows version. Right-click the program's shortcut, go to "properties," and then click on the "compatibility" tab.
5. Old hardware won't work with Vista.
Fix: Check the maker's website for updated drivers, which are available for most printers and digital cameras. If they're not available, consider a new device as just another cost of life on the cutting edge.
