Hoops boy meets high-IQ girl. They do karaoke, they defy detractors and try out for ... High School Musical. That's the plot of the hit Disney Channel movie: 26 million viewers, a top CD, a DVD smash. Costar Vanessa Hudgens, 17, who's cutting a solo pop CD, shared a few secrets.

Your favorite karaoke song?

Gosh, I don't do karaoke, believe it or not. The last time, two of my friends and I sang "Say My Name" and discovered we don't know the words. We just blew it.

A DVD to watch with friends?

Moulin Rouge. I'm a hopeless romantic.

And with your family?

If we have nothing to do we watch The Tenth Kingdom. It's a six-hour movie: two worlds connected by a secret door to a fairy-tale land where Snow White and Cinderella live. It's so cute!

Summer guilty pleasure?

Last summer, I went to theme parks. I'm a fanatic.

Do you do musical theater?

I started when I was, like, 7. I'll love it until the dying day.
