How to get ahead: Consider careers in the biotech industry. Fortune magazine recently rated biotech company Genentech as the nation's best place to work. Even if you're not a scientist, all biotech companies employ people in nonscience areas such as marketing, accounting, information technology, and human resources. It helps to be conversant in biotech concepts and jargon; taking a course or two offered by a community college or a university extension program could get you started.
