It is a day of enormous pride. As the seconds tick away, counting down to the anniversary of September 11, everyone involved in the rebuilding of the Pentagon takes a break to mark a milestone. There is a time capsule, meant never to be opened. It contains a signed copy of President Bush's speech declaring war on terrorism. There are cards and letters from kids, and a box with the names of the 184 people here on that terrible morning one year ago. A crane lifts the new cornerstone into place, and there is applause. Work stops just long enough for a few photos and handshakes. The clock ticks on. Time to get back to work.
