So these supposedly intelligent folks have 'discovered' that the most stressed out people in society are more likely to smoke or know people who are also stressed out who smoke.... what a revelation!
I tell you what, lets get the off the smokes and fill them full of toxic brain disabling psychiatric drugs.... that will be the best bet.
What a load of garbage.

Did it EVER occur to them that people from families that are addicted to nicotine might have a built in addiction problem? That this might be genetic? It isn't the second hand smoke guys, it's the basic underlying genes in these people.

Nothing but a bunch of domesticated panzies running the country these days.
I got news for ya'll, no matter what, you will die. No amount of living in a bubble will stop that, ever.
All you idiots stress us non idiots out, thus shortening our lives. Unfortunely, we can't just ban you idiots. No I don't smoke... I'm just a citizen watching his freedoms slip away as though he is looking at an hourglass running out of time.

The credibility of the AMA and the gullibility of an intellectually undernourished public never cease to amaze me. You bashed cigarette smoking with the left side of you mouth and condone smoking Marijuana with the right. You voted to tax the do-do out of cigarettes in order to pay for anti-smoking programs, so the politicians could raid the funds for welfare handouts. You litigated the snot out of tobacco companies because you were too ignorant to read the warning labels on the package and take responsibility for your own actions. The funds were to finance anti-smoking campaigns and compensate smokers who said I’ll smoke if I want too then said I didn’t know smoking might be bad for my health. Yep, the politicians who are looking out for your health raided that money too and spent it somewhere else so they could be re-elected. Yep – you fine people re-elected them.
Well, what goes around comes around. All you fatties out there who like soda are going to be next. Its not about your health, it never has been – Its all about another way to get more of your money to spend on welfare programs so all you intelligent ones can re-elect politicians who know what is best for society. Oh by the way, I got this eco-friendly bridge in Brooklyn that I will sell you really cheap – any takers?

So scientists found out that nonsmokers exposed to high levels of smoke are depressed? Wow, that's genius! So a non smoker going to a bar filled with smokers and drinking heavily for hours is more likely to be depressed? Unbelieveable
Actually they said that people who experience especially stressful home and work lives are also most likely to encounter secondhand smoke and to develop serious psychological problems. Really? So stress could be a problem?
Not only did the scientists get paid to study this, but we read this article.

I'm amazed at how many people smoke in my city - in California, which has a low smoking rate. I carry a carbon filter mask (Christy's - $25, works great) in case of airborne pollution (smoke, diesel exhaust, etc.) since I got bronchitis after exposure to cigarette smoke.
I am very bothered by the smoke as well as the litter, particularly when smokers dispose of still-lit cigarettes into streets and sidewalks where they constitute a fire hazard. I understand that pitching the cigarette away is an important part of the smoking ritual, but I wish that smokers would be more responsible.
I would certainly be happier if I never encountered smokers, litterers or people abusing their health and others around them.

Let's cut to the chase: tobacco and alcolhol cause far more deaths than several banned "controlled substances". The corporate profits big picture mandates that the big money always will rule. There will be a very long, costly (borne by the genral public, of course)public struggle to force accountability upon the true offenders in this ugly drama.....corporate America. As with BP and the Gulf oil spill, we will be faced with years of figer-pointing, avoidance, denial, legal niceties, SLAP suits, outright lying, and all the vast array of maneuvers at the disposal of obscenely wealthy corporations whose very TOP priority is to guard and protect their profits, even at the expense of the very health and lives of the general public. Nothing new. More of the same.

I was under the inpression that people were quitting smoking by the millions. sSo how is the non smokers exposure to second hand smoke increasing? Are all the New Non-Smokers going out with their friends on their smoke breaks so that they can sit close enough to get second hand enjoyment?
