Having travelled a lot by air, the last thing I want is a hairy flight. It is very very scary when you lose altitude quickly. You suddenly discover your inner Nun. I'm glad they aren't flying with all of those ash plumes hanging around.

Certainly puts things in perspective!

The average person on this planet does not have a clue on how it works. The idea of being inconvienienced due to a volcanic eruption makes me look at our population in awe. We do not run the planet; nature runs us. Learn to adapt, appreciate and be inspired by her beauty.

Iceland may be small and remote but its sound and fury are reverberating all over the world, forcing people everywhere to think Icelandic ... and say "Eyjafjallajökull" with respect for the forces of nature that dwarf hubris financial and myriad.

this event is crazy to the world to see

I am in Luxembourg. The airport is closed. The sky was brilliantly blue today. Just sayin'

Is everything a conspiracy? A little knowledge about the types of volcanoes will keep you from appearing ignorant...and slightly paranoid! Icelandic volcanoes are different from those you may be familiar with.

Saw this description "Iceland, an island that is the above-water manifestation of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the seam of mountains running up the center of the Atlantic Ocean." “It’s the place to see seafloor spreading without getting your feet wet,” says Alan Linde, a seismologist at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C.

Ash does not interact well with jet engines (hadn't you heard?). A volcanic eruption of this magnitude is scattering ash plumes all across Europe, and a jetliner that encounters a high concentration of this particulate matter would be.. well, it would not be pretty.

It doesn't take a scientist to put these things together, though I suppose conspiracy theories will always seem the more attractive alternative.
