When Social Fear Is Missing, So Are Racial Stereotypes

So is my fear of apes, cobras and great whites a socially constructed stereotype? If I only took the time to understand the ecology of the scorpion he would not sting me. Would it be sane to diversify with these dangerous creatures? When a soldier patrols in a hostile area tell me, how does he select the threat and the friendly? It is not up to me to get over a historically proven stereotype which every sense tells me is true; it is up to you to prove me wrong, that's how it works in reality.

If I am correct the williams disease would also mean that those who have it don't believe in a social hiarchy correct? so if they have to standing in rank towards others then wouldn't it be correct to deduce that if more people with williams disease pop up then a caste system in high schools will slowly dissapate and dissapear? and sence that is already happenining in general then wouldn't it also be posible to deduce that most people have a miniscule sorce of wiliams disease that wouldn't pop up on any tests or scans?

So now we're going to Circumsize Racism and Prejudice out of our children ? That sounds like a great idea for all you people who want the status of parenthood without the responsibility. Wouldn't it be a better Idea to simply educate society on how to be more accepting and then raise our young to respect others rather than to judge them in an effort to make themselves feel better ? Of course this would mean fewer social gatherings to show off your latest trophy and more mights home with your children teaching them values... maybe the trade off isn't worth it.

This is very encouraging, hopefully scientists can isolate this gene and maybe one day this genetic modification will be as common at birth as circumcision. Imagine an America where every child is born without racial bias, this would be paradise.

Very interesting; for the record there is a very good discussion of the effects of biology on racial and ethnic stereotyping in Anthony Serafini's classic work THE EPIC HISTORY OF BIOLOGY, though I don't recall if he discusses Williams Syndrom specifically

No. But your comment proves you didn't understand squat about what was just said in this article. It also proves that you have very little understanding of biology - just so that you know, missing 26 genes on chromosome 7 does not make you "a retard".

Furthermore, and as a personal side note - since "retard" is no longer used as a medical term - I feel comfortable saying that, the retard here is you.

Before you make idiotic comments (that obviously make you sound incredibly ignorant), why don't you try and do some research... use your brain... and then make a comment that actually shows you have some brain cells left. I have a suspicion, it would make you feel better and smarter than the idiot you feel like right now.

Does this mean that if you have no racial bias you are a retard?
