Our world will need to feed 9 billion people by 2050. Even the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has gone on record as saying that 70% of increased food production will need to come from technology.
People are starving. Do cow horns and moonlight have any place in meeting world demand? Technology; whether fertilizer or animal health feed additives, are what enable farmers to produce more food while using fewer resources.
The issue comes down to choice. If people want to buy cow-horn wine, OK; but if people care about feeding the planet, let them buy food that is produced with the benefits of modern technologyl

Chemicals are chemicals, whether in manure or separated in a factory. The difference is that the farmer who gives hands-on attention will get better results than the corporate head who orders a ton of fertilizer and seldom sets foot on his soil. Book-learning has its place, but observation, experience, and a personal connection to your work are vital in farming to achieve the best results.
