My ancestors counted their age in "winters" and weren't too concerned about the accuracy of the count. I enjoy watching the general populace's concern with aging, though the concept seems foreign. Age? It's just a number.

It doesn't matter how long you live. What matters is how you live. A life that is outer-directed, serving others, with gratitude to the Creator, seems like a good life to me. With such a life neither you nor others will care how old you are.

I doubt that the deer, or the geese, or the rabbits count their age. They just live. One day they die. If people did the same, I believe we would be much happier. The high point of my day is in the morning. I awaken before I open my eyes. It is always a thrill to open my eyes and realize I have been given another day. By treating each day as a bonus, I count my blessings instead of my age.

I'm now older by almost a decade than any of my forebears who enjoyed the fads of their time of smoking and drinking and "living life to its fullest." True, my bod has not worn all that well, but mentally I think I keep functioning about as well as ever. True, there are occasional lapses of memory, but then judicious forgetfulness has always been part of my makeup. The worse part of being "old" is understanding that death is not all that far away and pondering the hows and whys to confront it. I DO believe in exercise, both physical and mental, but find the competitive aspects of such to be ridiculous. Life isn't all fun, but then it never has been: we are born with responsibilities to ourselves and to others that may alter as our capacities lessen, but remain as our principal motivators. I shudder at the dependence youth places on electronics and the shallow relationships they create, but as a Darwinian, I accept it as society's imposition on being fit.

i hae always liked myself and was proud to say so I love life and wish it could

go on forever. I weigh the same as I did in high school and college. I am about'

slm, flexible and energetic. I have worked in the health field and am aware of

the lack of knowledge and lack of care for most of the people. Thank you.
