Hackers Break Into Cap-and-Trade System

Ya know, I'm wondering if that "key EU database w/data on actual greenhouse gas emissions that the trading system relies on" is secret information.

Why would anyone need to hack into it that database in the first place? Shouldn't all this information be public knowledge? And, if not, why not?

If the govt is devising "trading rules/restrictions" based on data, shouldn't that data be public. Obviously, the data would support the trading rules/restrictions, right?

I don't want Cap & Trade in this country until we have all the facts about global warming and whether - or to what extent - it's being created by humans.

That said, it's certainly wise policy for us all to conserve and recycle but being forced to do so at great expense, personally, to millions of Americans is not okay.
