The system the US abandoned was to operate at 3 times this energy level. the science won't tell us anything of use to anybody not on a grant so as far as the taxpayers are concerned they threw away 450,000,000 dollars we have paid so far on this obsolete machine. The physics people will come back to us in about five years asking for a double dip to build a grander machine so we will pay twice. If this machine is actually so important why was it not financed by voluntary grants from corporations and individuals? Pure Pork that why.
