What these scientists are observing existed many billions of years ago. I wonder if we will ever find a way to know what is out there now. It could be a huge surprise.

I envy and admire those in astronomy and the several frontier sciences contributing to an almost daily dose of "gee whiz" discovery. A latecomer to it all, after an adulthood spent working in mythology and religion, I've come to recognize how little we know and how much we dare to presume based on that little. Edwin Arlington Robinson might have said it best: "The world is a spiritual kindergarten with the children in it trying to spell God with the wrong blocks."

The astronomical sciences, hard to know about when we spend our time staring ar our feet, ought to be required study for all of us gropers in the dark.
