This idea is okay to a point. It's okay for those who are sick, on a business trip, or something of that nature. However, this does not necessarily look like an intimate fellowship. Even in the letters Paul, John, and others sent, the apostles said they hoped to meet with the members of a particular church face to face. They easily could have stayed where they were and continued to write letters. But they knew there was something important about being with another group of believers without using a medium like a letter or messenger.
