I have two boys with autism. One of whom does not need any kind of psychotropic drug to function at present. However, his brother also has a comorbid mood disorder; not simply depression as a previous poster was waffling about. Most A-typical anti psychotics are meant to treat schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, certain behaviors associated with Pervasive Developmental Delays etc.

My son off his meds is miserable, aggressive, manic, destructive and dangerous. With the right med mix for Him, (and I stress for HIM), he is a happy, mentally healthy boy, who still has autism and a mood disorder, but his autism and mood disorder no longer has him (no he's not "cured" of his disability but he's certainly better than he was).

We have been meticulous in researching the meds in his case and I have refused certain recommendations as once we weigh the risks and the benefits we realize this med or that med is not really warranted. However, I see it this way; if he had diabetes, would I deny him life saving medicine because I was opposed to it on a philosophical level, of course not. Mental illness is no different. I wish people would let the stigma of neurological disorders and mental illness fade away and learn that at last we can help and in many cases save these children.

There is no Magic Pills to make any of your issues go away! Depression, feeling bad etc are not excuses to go get a prescription they are the natural warning signs that something in your life is amiss and that a course correction just might be required! No drugs required just a different approach to life!

Most of the senseless violence in schools is done by youths on psychotropic drugs! Obesity just reinforces low self esteem and further emotional/mental issues.

Don't take drugs, legal or illegal.

Put all Pysch's and their goon "on-the-take" followers (i.e. any MDs, DO, Pharma salesman, lobbyist, etc) behind bars, or better yet - strap those bastards to the chair and throw the lever! Malevolent and naive behavior is no excuse for hurting or killing people, especially children! Who gives them the right to experiment in a field they know nothing about. When did these impostors (Psych's, doctors, etc) go from being chancellors to being pharmacologists - or 'God'? Messing with people's minds on a subjective level is one thing, but getting a good percentage of the nation hooked and dependent on mood stabilizing medication is nothing more than criminal, with no possible way of actual betterment (especially children who haven’t even learned to crawl) - basically strap the United States (or world) into a chemical straitjacket and swallow “gulp”

“…this pill will fix you…” – it’s a panacea for all your troublesome woes!

Then there are those "naive" customers whose analytical judgment went to zero the moment they felt the euphoria of these drugs (and don't think for a moment any differently) - which I might add is no different than the heroin user on the street. Since when do we as Americans put any faith in the judgment of a heroin addict? Their yardstick is "ohhh, I feel better. I don't feel quite so depressed". No kidding you feel better, you're hooked on DRUGS dude!! WAKE UP!

When my parents inject themselves with insulin for their diabetic condition (after of course taking all the precautionary and appropriate readings with their cool little blood reading machine), they know exactly what this is doing and how much to take. There’s no question as to what they're balancing – ZERO!

What exactly does heroin or Pysch drugs balance?

What about Pyschs? At least a heroin dealers admits to being to being a dealer.

I think the most dangerous food is meat as it destroys humanity and leads to wars and destroys all ultimately.

Obesity & Magic Pill :

I personally recognize that wheat is a far better diet than meat on the ground it normally exits body with ease and rapidity, and we are well aware that our heath depends upon smooth metabolism and blood stream associated with the immune system and how important our daily workout is, as well.

I still think the critical conditions mostly come from breach of our immune system, and the food that stays long in the body is more likely to become a source where germs, bacterias, viruses and the like multiply.

Sounds outlandish, but wheat might be a principal "clean and healthy" food that has led western society to the most decent culture of all.

Disadvantages of meat consumption :

1. The food that stays long in the body looks more likely to become a source where germs, bacterias and the like multiply, which even gives birth to critical conditions involving prostate cancer.

2. The consumption of meat proved lethal as earlier this year, the expansive, long-term release concluded about a third of more than 500,000 Americans aged 50-70 with this behavior tends to wind up with premature fatality caused by cancer, hypertension and more.

3. The in-take of pork raises risks of catching swine flue and its mutation, costing around the initially estimated $2trillion dollars word-wide and endangering recovery,

(( Genes included in the new swine flu have been circulating undetected in pigs for at least a decade, according to researchers who have sequenced the genomes of more than 50 samples of the virus. The findings suggest that in the future, pig populations will need to be monitored more closely for emerging influenza viruses, reported a team led by Rebecca Garten of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in a report released by the journal Science.))

Still, media downplay this fact out of small thinking to protect meat industry.

4. All but media influenced by meat industry blame calorie for overweight or obesity rather than fat, I still think Fat equals Fat by definition and common sense.

5. Hot dogs are often associated with food-borne illness. Though other food items carry listeria , FDA (Food and Drug Administration) studies have shown a high level of the harmful bacteria on hot dogs, processed meat and ready-to-eat meat products. And consuming hot dogs and other processed meats increases the risk of cancer

The class-action consumer fraud lawsuit underway in New Jersey is based on a report from the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Its findings included this fact: Consuming one 50-gram serving of processed meat (about the amount in one hot dog) every day increases the risk of colorectal cancer, on average, by 21 percent.

Hang those bastards for what they’re doing to our youth, elderly and future generations! They’ve made a deal with the devil, and until they renounce their sins or get locked away, they’ll continue to corrupt our world! Millions have died because of their on-going "Medical" experiments - yes, children are their guinea pigs! - let's not forget flagrant sexual abuse of patients, ECT, Transorbital Leukotomy, Prefrontal lobotomy, pain/drug hypnosis, mal-billing practices, detaining people against their will, and on and on and on and on...

Millions are dying now! How many more examples have to be made of our children for people to REALLY see these criminals for what they are. Shoot them all!

Society becomes incited about and reviles the funding of illicit drugs by our government, thus providing euphoric mental refuge for the homeless, prostitutes, college student, working man and even children. The consequences are endless, (to name a few): children or even adults are promptly expelled from school or work and (sometimes) prosecuted, if found to be 1. Indulging or 2. Trafficking in such illegal drugs. There is zero, zero, zero tolerance by the police and society for these drugs. Mere mention of taking “cocaine” would be an endless stigma. If an accident occurred while under the influence, it wouldn’t take long to come to know the brutal penalties for such indulgence! There is even less leniency if these same drugs are being sanctioned by parents, companies or even the government. Without a doubt, this is a serious matter! If such drugs (chemicals) weren’t harmful and highly addictive, they probably wouldn’t be illegal.

Is there equivalent scrutiny, or lack thereof, for these similar, but extra potent, drugs (certified by the FDA and in addition funded by world governments) repackaged by big Pharma and doled out to 27 million children (not counting adults) internationally by Psychiatry and Medical doctors? For heaven’s sake, most of these drugs are factually derivatives from the same plants as the illegal drugs. Big Pharma certainly didn’t and wouldn’t tolerate being left out from making a “legal” buck, along with the accompanied “medical kick backs” provided to certain unholy and unethical doctors. This engineered flagrant and utter dismissive complacency by Society for these high powered, mind altering, narcotics has engendered a myriad of severe and deep seeded problems in our society that the common folk dismiss as “Human Behavior” – e.g. school shootings, suicide, illiteracy, nervousness, anxiety, etc.

Where is this coming from? Where is the reproof? How did Society become so deeply educated and convinced illicit drugs are bad? …but on the other hand, how did we become so programmed into believing these same (repacked) Class II narcotics doled out by doctors/Psychs/Big Pharma are perfectly ok? – How did this come about? Is it just because a doctor said it was so? Was this perhaps due to MASS marketing campaigns on TV? Perhaps it is the euphoric and addictive experience of the user wanting more. Maybe word of mouth or all of the above, and then some…

Society takes a stand against justifiably to what is morally bad or deemed illegal (e.g. murder, steeling, drugs, etc). But if made legal by a certain medical song and dance (i.e. charlatans) in some evasive, complicated and inextricable way, people are unable to relate the two and unquestionably accept it.

My 22 yr old daughter has battled ADD and depression (sort of the chicken and egg thing) since her diagnoses in her Junior year of high school. Surely, someone can come up with a solution for these bright young people that will allow them to be successfull in getting their higher education completed in a less traditional way so that they aren't forced to medicate themselves to compete. That is what my daughter must do everyday to graduate from college so that she can begin her career. It has taken it's toll. Sleeplessness, emotional dependence on a drug, low self esteem from the stigma of being labled, and now I realize the 30 pounds she's put on her little frame is yet another gift!

She will graduate this year and finally be able to give to some employer the wonderful energy, creativity and drive that traditional education has tried to stymie. Hopefully, she be able to wean herself off these drugs she's needed to be "normal" soon and then maybe we will again see our simply perfect, very bright little girl that because she didn't "test well" , has struggled for 17 years (K-College) to meet rigid, unrealistic educational requirements.
