Nuclear Energy Becomes Pivotal in Climate Debate

If I may barrow your quote, "Nuclear power still faces daunting challenges, including the fate of highly radioactive reactor waste. Reactors remain a tempting target for terrorists, requiring ever vigilant security measures."; and if anyone is willing to look into the background of our national "nuclear repository", then the question becomes are we trading one poison for another. Nuclear waste has an incredibly long life span, requires large amounts of taxpayer subsidizing, and I haven't even begun to discuss security concerns (because these facilities are more difficult to protect than the Pentagon). I don't think it unfair to say that in the rush to find a cure for our dilemma that we should avoid making the mistake of one step forward, two steps back.
