A friend and I were just discussing the most efficient ways to help the Ghana farmers improve crop quality and remain updated on the market price of their crops. We decided that Radio would be the most cost effective. The radio would give air time to gain market share; the phones are troublesome and expensive for individual use. This Friend in Ghana had spent a good part of his life in Africa, from the Peace Corp in his younger days till now as an Advisor/ consultant. He currently works as a consultant in Emerging Market project and trade finance. He arranges financing for Public Private Partnership projects (PPP) in all industries but often in energy. (copied from his Skype) His assignment with USAID has put some of the worlds brightest minds on the problem, and with the 100 degree temps they are also putting in a lot of sweat equity. I have admired Mr and Mrs Gates ability to see a problem for what it really is and applaud the emphasis on crops. Hope they will check out Maurice Allen Johnson in Ghana and recognize his efforts to educate / train the locals for their brighter future.
