My daughter-in-law introduced my to geocaching while on vacation. We had three GPS's with us. One fishfinder, one cheap unit, and a new one that I bought for travelling in a car. It also works for people on foot. I can also download cache sites right into my GPS. There is definitely an element of excitement and I think kids would love it. Especially if you find a large cashe and can keep a trinket. We found a large one and didn't have anything to put in it so we left money. It's also good for a little exercize. I highly recommend.

Between family and Boy Scouting, this is one of the more possitive things in life. It really give one a good way to interact with others and make new friends.

I haven't cached much Stateside, but do it often on Guam while visiting my children. Guam geocaching group is true to the island ethic, laid-back and lots of fun with CITO their motto--Cache In, Thrash Out! Try it with family members, you'll love it! mama_rhodes

The website referenced above for geocaching is www.geocaching.com. It is mispelled in the article.
