I'm one of those (apparently few) people who still regularly use a VCR to record programs and time shift. I do this primarily because I can watch a hour program in 40 minutes because my VCR automatically marks and fast forwards through commerical automatically.

There's just too many commercials -- especially at the half hour time period. This is the time to run out of the room and do other things because you now you got at least three minutes of not missing anything.
