In New Jersey a bigger dumpster is a status symbol, like a new Cadillac in your driveway. Or so it goes with those I know here. I keep quiet about my doing repairs, but I have a good following.

very interesting. it's nice to know that something positive is coming out of the recession. if you are interested in other environmental websites I recommend this one: http://buildakinderearth.com

I know this is just a report but it points out the cancellation effect of doing the right thing. A decline in trash should be applauded, instead the landfill will raise fees to make up for the lost revenue. As for the job loss, to me that's like bemoaning you have to lay off prison guards. That would be a good thing meaning a decline in crime. If I have to pay higher fees I may as well throw stuff away and use the savings in lower fees to buy new things. Apparently folks are "doing the right thing" not for environmental reasons, but for economic reasons.
