Where Is Human Evolution Heading?

food for thought

I think most would have guessed that we were slowing down since the survival of the species at large is no longer a race against predators, disaster, and starvation. It's a reminder that evolution acts to increase the odds of survival regardless of the relative danger of the environment, and its ability to develop new strategies increases with the population. The better we do, the faster we go. It's proof for any pessimists out there that evolution's not done with us yet.

hmmmmmm

I simply cannot accept rationally nor logically how something as big and awe inspiring as our universe with everything inside it was made from nothing without some kind of prior knowledge (some might say divine intervention)to give this "thing" we are in any direction along time to become and belong, or exist, without deeply engrained laws/rules given to it prior to its creation.

ok so we have theories like Darwins, they are theories that have been handed to the masses on a plate and are excepted as the "way it defo happaned"

todays attitude is of contempt for our fore fathers, ancient generations of people that had knowledge of the solar system that we have only just caught up with using our "supreme" ignorance of science and technology, yet we ridicule these peoples legacy of prior warning and intuition as we screw around with nature (our home) and its laws.

Evolution, Bigbang theory....??

I'm not buying it!

reply to auradawnveirs RE: tithes

You obviously hate organized religion, and some of what you say is very true. But you seem to have a couple of problems: You are unable to see that the twisted perception of God, which religion has taught has nothing to do with God himself. Regarding money, you are absolutely correct: the Bible clearly states (Rev. 22:7) that there should be no money paid to learn about God. The Apostle Paul(2 Thessalonians 3:7-10) made it clear that he, as a minister, supported himself as a tent maker so as not to be a financial burden on the congregation. In fact there is no "paid clergy" arrangement mentioned in the Bible. It is an invention as you said, to make money. Religion has been all about money and power throughout history, but you obviously have never actually studied the Bible to uncover the fact that Religion has nothing to do with God. And like most people have no clue regarding who God really is. Secondly, your other problem is that you have probably never studied "Science" to prove or disprove Evolution. If you did, and applied the "scientific method" to Evolution, you would see that the theory "holds no water". But evidently, like most laymen today, you blindly follow the self proclaimed experts who twist Scientific fact. Therefore like religious worshippers in the Dark Ages, you are enslaved to a system that keeps you ignorant and "bamboozled", and you are obligated to follow something you know nothing about because you have given up your rights to think for yourself. I recommend that you study the Laws of Science and Mathmatics and you will see why Evolution is impossible. Then study the Bible and you will learn the Truth that is not taught in the churches.

God was invented to start tithing system

Holy books are money-making pot-boilers. They were written by many authors. The faith-based profiteers began by being PAID for their scrolls and books. The authors said there IS a God and he demands huge amounts of MATERIAL GOODS, payable to His collection-agents-- called preachers or priests. There is no God but there is the WORD God. That's why it starts out with "In the beginning was the word and the word was God." Tithe-dependent church employees defend their profession by saying they're in the business of "saving souls." There are no "souls." Long ago, people noticed that dying people stopped breathing. They knew nothing about the body's use of oxygen. They mistakenly thought that SOMETHING LEFT the dying body.

In fact, the corpse simply stopped TAKING IN OXYGEN. Their understandable ignorance made it possible for them to accept the lie that "God breathed life into Man." It's 2009, yet many commentators still believe those writers of long ago who made up all kinds of money-making religious myths.

TEOTWAWKI

Humans once again have been overly ego-centric in the belief that their activities actually change the world and heighten the probability of human induced genetic evolutionary changes. Will man be able to fly or run as fast as cheetas someday? Will stem cells repair spinal and brain injuries and become a fountain of youth? Or will some natural calamity such as an errant asteroid, Planet X, or a super disease alter the path of humanity forever - if we survive in small pockets to someday repopulate Earth? Look to the heavens, for God may be coming to destroy mankind in the form of meteors from the Asteroid Belt by 2012.

Evolution

Wow. People here need to learn grammar and proper English. Plus, those who ramble on about God need to get a life and stop worrying about pleasing their individual god.

Comments

The article was excellent, but some of the prehistoric comments here are in desperate need of evolution.
