Democrats are in a state of panic. And Republicans are rightfully giddy about new ABC News/Washington Post poll numbers showing the GOP with huge advantages going into November.

I remain convinced that Republicans are the only party capable of imposing the kind of sacrifices that will be necessary for the country to regain its fiscal footing. Here are five simple things the GOP should do next year as the majority party.
