Is this not strong words coming from a famous and old time, arch-leftist like Zuckerman? Many of us out here in the hinterland know this Obama as a monster, a Stalinist, a fraud, a liar, and even a demon at times, but Zuckerman was, or has been, a stooge for Obama. So what gives?

Stewart, the Democrats had control of the congress after the 2006 elections. They had filibuster proof numbers after 2008 until the 2010 elections when the Republicans took over because the Democrats had screwed-up the economy big time. When the Republicans took over they did what they were sent there for - stop any additional damaging legislation from being passed. So yes, the Democrats and the Obama administration failed the nation and are still doing so.

Mort you have to read your own article and realize what you are espousing is what Obama is trying to do despite the intransigence - no rather the thwarting - that is being done by the GOP and others supporting them.... Also, you can't compare this to the great depression because in those days, America had not already spent nearly all of its borrowing power and also in those days, all parties were pulling together not pulling America apart such as is what we are witnessing today. Further the GOP is espousing cutting back and not investing in the very things you list at the end of your article.. Finally the other thing that is so different and essentially to recovery, is that now a days, with GOP opposition willing to use all avenues to thwart progress, including filibuster and what have you, it takes a super majority to do anything.... a and of course that is not feasible and the reason is the GOP DOES NOT WANT TO AGREE TO ANYTHING so that you and Mitt and others can say exactly what you are saying today - that somehow Obama has personally failed the nation...... Well .... NOT!!!!!!!!!
