Have our treasury department do its job! The federal reserve is not a government institution or is it under the oversight of the US government. That is why it has never been audited in its history. It is private foreign banks that enjoy the privilege of regulating the representative value of our wealth in their notes of debt. Paper currency. Screw them and kick them out of our country. Thomas Jefferson was right!

I just read your article Beware of False Hopes on the Economy, 8-24-09.

What I want to know is how can retail sales be up 3.6 percent?

There are 30 million people we KNOW of out of work and another 17 million estimated who have stopped looking for work. Everyone I know has cut their Christmas spending at least in half. I spent less on Christmas this year than I probably have in my whole adult life.

I’ve been out of work since February 2009. I’ve sent out hundreds and hundreds of resumes and been on dozens of interviews for which I was highly qualified, but not a single offer of employment.

If you remove the incomes of 47 million Americans from the economy, how can retail sales POSSIBLY be up? I’m sorry, but these figures have been tampered with somehow by someone.

As usual, Mort Zuckerman is right on... Except, this time, he doesn't explain what is so very wrong with auditing the Fed?

True knowledge comes from the dialectic. The Fed can only gain by having an independent third party critique its actions.

So what, exactly, is wrong with the GAO auditing the Fed?

The Fed desires secrecy so that its crimes never become public, for if the world knew the sorts of insider trading committed by our own government with the help and often at the admonishment of, the Wall Street traders and banking system, we would be having treason trials at this very moment.

I think that all who read Mort Zuckerman's opinion on the Fed, must realize that here is a man who was deceived by the secrecy and crimes of Bernie Madoff, and lost tens of millions of dollars in the process. I don't know that he would be the best man to advise us on who to trust with our money.

I hope the censors don't find this painful truth too bold, and delete this message, after all it is already common knowledge on much of the internet and contains no lies, only statements of fact.

We're not all zuckers for letting the banks to continue to run the Fed.

Congress in theory is representative of us and Congress needs to have oversight of the Federal Reserve.

We need to know that the Federal reserve is not just a trust to protect the banks' profits. Congress need to see that the Fed works for a stable and fair economy for all Americans not just the wealthy elite. Andy Jackson killed off the fiefdom of an independent Second Bank of the United States as Nick Biddle tried to run the country by controlling all bank deposits.

For someone convinced that casinos are the answers to all problems, we don't need more distractions plugging the same old Wall Street shenanigans that tanked the country last year. Even casinos need to heavily regulated.

It's said that education without common sense is nothing but a load of books on the back of an ass. Zuckerman is a perfect example of this saying. Him and Joseph Stiglitz and George Soros and Paul Krugman need to wake up from their Keynesian dream. All of our financial problems can be traced to The Federal Reserve. For more and much better information than Zuckerman can ever give, look up "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin.
