Why We Care About Mitt Romney's Dog and Bullying

In reference to your comment "He is a member of a church that does not welcome outsiders", as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, please let me assure you that non-members are very welcome. I encourage you to visit a LDS chapel and see for yourself.

Concerning Mr. Romney's early life, I believe the public has far easier access to it than to President Obama's.

This is researched thought?

Got Cain out of the picture with old unfounded bull. Newt behaving like a Kennedy. Trying same with Mitt with this story about dog & hair cut.

No need to make stuff up on buma. Truth is GOOD ENOUGH.

ANYTHING but bum-bum record as President...

Wonder if the media will be fair and spend the same time looking at President Obama's past with the same scrutiny... probably afraid to look into President Obama's past... it is very scary... and that of his parents and grandparents...

Outsiders are welcome to attend Church services, find a building near you at lds.org

Very poor research and journalistic skills...

I quote "non-Mormons are not even supposed to enter the church." Either a false statement or fully incomplete...

there was a time when U.S. News had high standards... today it is very mediocre.

Wherever do you get the idea that Mormons don't welcome outsiders to the church? There are visitors almost every week to our chapel (more for the informal basketball Saturday AM games, and the youth and women activities during the week.

I'm thinking you are referring to the fact that only those Mormons who meet the requirements for a temple recommend are allowed into the 137 operating temples around the world, but there are a whole lot of Mormons who are excluded from them too.

And for readers who think this is true, you can find the nearest mormon church by putting your address in the search box when you google "meetinghouse locator", and show up on sunday at the time listed if you want to find out for yourself that you are welcome in our chapels. (Why would the official church site make that so easy if we were keeping outsiders away?)

I would beware of some of the comments here. There is an organization called "Mormon Voices" that has deliberately called for aggressive trolling of blogs like this. It wouldn't surprise me if an email was sent out to SOLAR, SCOTT LLOYD and others, urging them to appear en masse in order to drown out any other discussion.

Mr. Lloyd, by the way, is a notorious amateur apologist, with a long history of tattle-tale-like behavior and aggressive attacks on LDS Church critics.

The point being that these comments should be regarded with suspicion.

R.L. Schaefer of CA _ Now R.L. wants me to read for days. NOT what links for proof is all about...

Says “Most of the Smith's fairy tales - "Book of Mormon" - have been proven totally false by scientists and historians who study early America's cultures and history”. Won’t be proved by RL. Coming from R.L. not believable WITHOUT THE PROOF. HE wants US to prove he is correct. Some weird-o.

RL believes increasing federal income tax on rich will increase government revenue. Yes, "There's a sucker born every minute."

Keep up your drinking...

R.L. talks about studies on signal cameras. Asked for link to studies told to look up myself. THAT WAS COMMON KNOWLEDGE. Studies & common knowledge are two separate things.

R.L. feels a little cocky. I say IS NORM to provide link when you say scientist and historians agree with you. Is called for proof. What you read that lead to your conclusion is what I look for. Quotes from links you see in MY COMMENTS. R.L. just plays. A child writing with the BIG FOLKS. READ DOZENS OF ARTICLES SAYS R.L.

YES, brucetee is smarter than R.L...

Really, is this U.S. News & World Report's site? Did they fire all the editors? How does this poorly researched piece of drivel get by any editor that is not asleep on the job?

". . . non-Mormons are not even supposed to enter the church." Really? Have you never, ever even looked at a picture of an LDS chapel where every single one of them around the world says on a sign at the front of the building "Visitors Welcome"? You apparently took NO time whatsoever to find out anything about the Church before spewing your ignorance to the world. If you can't get the simple things right how is anyone supposed to trust on the more important and complicated issues? Pathetic is the only word that comes to mind.
