Warren Buffett and the Mythical 'Congressional Reform Act'
Tweet Share on Facebook March 13, 2012 Comment (76)Why are so many members of Congress retiring?
Look no further than the following spam E-mail, which purports to be a petition of sorts circulated by billionaire and reform advocate Warren Buffett. It says:

Barack Obama Can't Do Much About Gas Prices
Tweet Share on Facebook March 12, 2012 Comment (18)Wouldn't it be great if gasoline prices were down to $2.50 a gallon? Even those of us who don't have cars are affected by high (by U.S. standards) gas prices, since so many things—air travel, the cost of transporting food and other goods—is affected by the cost of gas. And wouldn't it be great if the president could just make it happen?

Anti-Incumbent Super PAC Does More Harm Than Good
Tweet Share on Facebook March 9, 2012 Comment (8)"Throw the bums out" is an understandable sentiment among Americans frustrated with the state of affairs in Washington. But as an actual election tactic, it's foolish and counterproductive.

Why Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul Aren't Dropping Out
Tweet Share on Facebook March 8, 2012 Comment (12)Former Gov. Mitt Romney doesn't understand why his opponents just won't give up the fight for the nomination. He's right in that it's not exactly logical for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Sen. Rick Santorum, and Rep. Ron Paul to stay in the race. It's virtually impossible for any of the lagging three candidates to win the nomination mathematically. Romney stepped aside in 2008 when it was clear that he would not make it to the nomination. He's waited his turn; he believe he's earned it, and he can't figure out why the less popular candidates just won't go away and let him get down to the business of defeating President Barack Obama.

If Gregg Williams 'Bounty' Charges Are True, NFL Should Ban Him
Tweet Share on Facebook March 6, 2012 Comment (2)If (mostly) very large men get paid pots of money to slam into each other and knock each other to the ground, is it really so awful that some were allegedly paid bounties to take an opposing player out of the game with a particularly hard hit?

Who's Afraid of Rush Limbaugh?
Tweet Share on Facebook March 5, 2012 Comment (28)Rush Limbaugh, the shock jock who made a deeply insulting and ill-informed comment about the Georgetown University Law School student who believes birth control should be covered under her university health plan, has never been elected to public office. But it is remarkable how he has cowed Republican elected officials who should not only know better, but who also, unlike Limbaugh, have earned the right to be heard on the public stage.

Women Don't See GOP’s War on Contraceptives as About Religion
Tweet Share on Facebook March 1, 2012 Comment (28)Some Republicans thought the fight over birth control coverage would cost President Obama the election. Instead, it may have unleashed a second coming of the Anita Hill controversy, alienating women who otherwise might be attracted to a fiscally conservative, small government message.
